Pastry Topped Beef Bourguignon

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 Tbsp oil
500 g rump steak, cubed
1 onion, cut into wedges
2 cups halved mushrooms
3/4 cup water
1 packet MAGGI COOK IN THE POT Beef Bourguignon Recipe Mix
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 sheet of puff pastry
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp MAGGI Green Herb Stock Powder

Method

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan.  Add beef and cook until browned.  Add onion and mushrooms, cook for a further 2 minutes, stirring.
  2. Add combined water, recipe mix and tomato paste.  Bring to the boil, stirring.  Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Preheat oven to 220oC.  Place meat mixture in a pie dish. Top with sheet of pastry.  Make holes with a fork to allow the steam to escape.  Brush with combined beaten egg and stock powder.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes or until pastry is golden.  Serve with mashed potato and peas.

Hints

Serve with fresh salad or seasonal vegetables
