Caramel Nut Slice
Ingredients
BASE
1 1/4 cups plain flour
1/4 cup NESTLE Baking Cocoa
1/2 cup icing sugar
150 g butter, melted

FILLING
1 can HIGHLANDER Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 Tbsp golden syrup
1 Tbsp butter
2 tsp finely grated orange rind
----------------------------------------
TOPPING
1/2 cup pistachio nuts
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
1/2 cup NESTLE Dark CHOC BITS
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180oC. Line base and sides of a 27cm x 18cm x 3cm tin with baking paper.
2. Prepare base. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Press mixture into tin. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
3. While base is cooking, prepare filling. Place condensed milk, golden syrup, butter and orange rind in a small saucepan. Bring to the boil, over low heat, stirring. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
4. Spread mixture over base. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over filling, gently pressing down with the back of a spoon. Return to oven for further 20 minutes. Allow to cool on a rack.
5. Refrigerate until caramel is set. Cut into small squares to serve.
