A roamer, right from the time he or she starts to crawl; very eager to explore new ground, very quick to adapt to new surroundings. The Sagittarian child may decide to run away from home, not because he or she is unhappy there, but solely for the sake of the experience. However, you can sidetrack this impulse by encouraging your young Sagittarian to go camping with other youngsters.
Truthful by nature, your Sagittarian youngster will be quick to own up to any misdemeanors; and you have not the heart to punish him or her for them, as usually no harm was meant. These are such high-spirited, energetic youngsters that they must have plenty of outlets for their driving force.
True, at school Sagittarian children may seem to be much more keen on sport and the social aspects of school life than on mastering what they are being taught; yet they do well in examinations, for their intelligence is high and they can learn very quickly. Eventually, they will become monitors or prefects, but this never undermines their popularity with fellow pupils, for they handle authority in a very affable way. Trust the Sagittarian to deal effectively with any school bully – not so much by force, as by ridicule, much to the delight for youngsters who have been terrorized.
You will have to be firm about doling out pocket money, though; and equally firm with friends and relative who are willing to supply what you deny. Sagittarians are lucky in money matters: it always seems to come their way from one source or another. You will also have to teach your Sagittarian child to be tidy and methodical; otherwise the rooms he uses will look as thought hey have been hit by a tornado.
These youngsters fly away from the parental next very early in life – as soon as they can afford to have their own pad, they will be on the move. It may cost you considerable effort to keep track of their whereabouts after that, as they do not stay put for long. The chances are they will go abroad at the earliest opportunity – and they do even better abroad than at home. You will have no need to worry about your Sagittarian child’s future: these youngsters never turn out to be failures. Their exploits may make your hair stand on end at times, but you will be proud to brag about them.
On thing to be careful about in dealing with Sagittarian children is not to overdo discipline yourself, or to subject them to strict disciplinarians. For Sagittarians cannot tolerate undue pressure put on them. Friendly and accommodating by nature, they will respond fully to tactful ways of keeping them under control; but if they do become rebellious no amount of punishment will have any good effect. Quite the reverse; the courage will then become bravado. These children have a strong sense of honour, and if this is appealed to they will never do anything to stain it. Exact a promise from a Sagittarian and it will be kept – for though those born under this sign can be inconsistent, they will never break their word: it is their bond. This, and their ambition to excel in all they do, will take care of any problems that arise during their formative years. But they can be very careless as well as over-generous with their possessions, and are apt to lose them or part with them too easily to other children. So you must se they are not imposed on by covetous companions.
