Because Aquarians are basically amiable in disposition, even if independent, the self-willed side of their nature will not be especially stressed during infancy and early childhood. In fact, Aquarians are particularly good-tempered babies – you will hear them crooning contentedly to themselves while they play with the toys you have provided.
Once they begin to crawl they become very explorative, so you will have to keep an eye open for their whereabouts. It is no use putting them into a playpen: the Aquarian child hates to be fenced in. If put among other children, they will be friendly enough, but very quick to move away if their playmates try to take hold of them. The chances are that your Aquarian child will learn to read at a very early age and become keenly interested in books.
The more progressive type of school is preferable for Aquarians. They will participate in the sports and social side of school life, but in a mildly interested way. He or she will be much more interested in spending time in the school laboratory or craft centre. Amateur theatricals will, however, hold a special appeal – the Aquarian will like to organise and direct them, and maybe write the plays for them.
Young Aquarians are keen on hobbies, but not the kind that usually claim children’s interest. You will not be bothered with please for extra pocket money: little Aquarians are no spendthrifts, though they may develop some expensive tastes later.
Tidiness is not usually one of the virtues of Aquarians; visitors are best steered quickly past your child’s door. Punctuality is not an Aquarian virtue either, so that is another problem that has to be sorted out. How to do so? Not by criticizing, but by making excuses for both faults – if you emphasize that you quite understand that your young Aquarian cannot overcome these failings, he or she will, contrarily, decide to prove how wrong you are.
